A LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department investigator got some praise last week for something he did last month that wasn’t part of an investigation. Tyson Szafranski hadn’t even arrived at work for the day yet. The department says Szafranski was on his way to work on June 20th when he came upon an accident scene with an unconscious man in a burning vehicle. Szafranski got the man to wake up and got him out.
That happened on Illinois 23 at the Leonore Blacktop. In that crash, a Streator man’s car hit a trailer hauled by another vehicle. He was taken to a hospital.
