Starting next year, Illinois will observe Sweet Corn Appreciation Day. Illinois House member Tony McCombie from a Quad Cities area district says a constituent asked for it. She thought a simple resolution would be fine, but one of her staffers suggested a law.
The bill says it’s a tribute to family farmers who grow it and recognizes that most of the country’s sweet corn is grown in Indiana and northern Illinois.
