Troy Grove, Grand Ridge, and Dana are getting sewer system grants. A state grant is paying them $30,000 each. It’s for what are called unsewered communities to develop new sewer systems or pay for upgrades on severely under-equipped systems. Some of the communities getting grants in the program have partial systems with untreated sewage getting out into the environment. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency says it’s giving a half million dollars in this round of grants. It gave out $1 million last year.
