Attorney general candidate Steve Kim says crime is out of control

Republican Attorney General candidate Steve Kim doesn’t see anything good in the SAFE-T Act. He says cash bail will end in 2023, and it’ll be a lot harder to enforce some laws, for example, trespassing. He says police will be able to ticket a trespasser but not remove him.

Kim says some deaths that used to be murders are lesser crimes now. For example, if a bystander is killed in a shootout among enemies, the shooters aren’t prosecuted for murder.

Kim says police are quitting and retiring faster than new officers can be hired and crime is out of control. He blames the SAFE-T Act. And Kim says political corruption is still alive in Illinois. He calls it the Madigan culture after the former Illinois House Speaker indicted in a corruption case.

Kim was at a campaign stop in Morris Saturday with Republican governor candidate Richard Irvin.
