The White Sox came up one game short of a sweep in their home series when they fell 9-5 to the Blue Jays at Guaranteed Rate Field. Lucas Giolito was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs over five innings pitched. Andrew Vaughn went three-for-five at the plate as the South-Siders are now 33-and-34.
The Cubs snapped their losing skid by beating the Pirates 14-5 in Pittsburgh as the team ended its three-game losing streak. Patrick Wisdom, Ian Happ and Alfonso Rivas all went deep in the win and Wisdom knocked in four runs. Keegan Thompson earned his seventh win after tossing six innings of one-run ball. The Cubs improved to 26-and-43 and will send left-hander Justin Steele to the mound today.
Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado homered as the Cardinals edged the Brewers 5-4 in Milwaukee. Johan Oviedo picked up the win in relief for St. Louis. The Cards are 40-and-31 and will wrap up the series with the Brewers this afternoon in Milwaukee. Dakota Hudson is scheduled to start for the Cardinals.
The Avalanche are one win away from claiming the Cup. Colorado edged the Lightning 3-2 in overtime in Game Four of the Stanley Cup Final in Tampa. The Lightning now trails 3-1 in the series. The Avalanche will look to clinch its first title since 2001 as the series shifts to Denver for Game Five on Friday.
The Chicago Sky takes on the Sparks tonight in Los Angeles. The Sky are coming off a 104-95 comeback win over the Las Vegas Aces and have won four of their last five games.
