A LaSalle County jury decided that continued physical contact with courthouse security and hurting an officer’s arm are crimes a person is guilty of, even if he believes he’s entitled to be in the building. Jurors convicted 29-year old Jacob Farmer of obstructing a peace officer and battery Wednesday on the second day of his trial.

A prosecutor showed videos taken by Farmer’s sister Angel of them causing a commotion at the Etna Rd. courthouse in March last year. In one, they’re talking loudly and rapping on windows. In another, they try to get past security at the doorway.

They call themselves “Justice Jake” and “Accountability Angel” in online forums in which they post videos of themselves being told they can’t record videos in courthouses and some other public buildings. Judge H. Chris Ryan set a sentencing date for August fourth for Jacob Farmer. Angel Farmer is still facing charges.
