October 1st will be the Labor of Love home repair day for the United Way of Eastern LaSalle County. Executive Director Shelli Ocepek wants lower income home owners to know they can apply now on forms available at banks in the chapter’s service area. The deadline is August 1st.
Volunteers are already asking how to get involved. Hundreds of them will go to 25 to 30 homes in Dayton, Grand Ridge, Harding, Leland, Marseilles, Naplate, Norway, Ottawa, Seneca, Serena, Sheridan, and Wedron.
Those applying for home repairs must meet income guidelines. They must own their homes and plan on staying in them for the next few years. And there must not be any outstanding tax bills or liens.
