Ottawa Mayor Dan Aussem is seeking a second term in office. His campaign announcement came out Tuesday afternoon.
During his first term, his campaign says the city received over $23 million dollars in grants for projects like reconstructing Stevenson Rd, NCAT, and relocating the Railroad switchyard. His campaign also says under Aussem’s leadership, more family-friendly events such as Kites in Flight, free movie nights, and touch a truck were created.
In the future, Aussem says he wants to build an amphitheater at the former Central school site, add walking and biking lanes to Allen Park, design a second wastewater treatment facility, and raise Green Street out of the flood plain. This will be his second time running for office. The election will be in April 2023.
