Issues on Peru’s Boat Launch are making the fire department add more signs. Fire Chief Jeff King says the department will install “No Fishing from Boat Launch” signs after people were caught doing just that.
But another issue around the launch involves fishermen camping and leaving trash on a beach near the launch. King says the city can’t do anything about it because the land is privately owned.
Police Chief Robert Pyszka says patrols have been going through the area. Mayor Ken Kolowski says the city should focus on the parking lot and boat launch.
King also says a line of poles with chains and signs that say “No Parking Past This Line” will be installed to prevent people from parking in areas that would make it hard for a truck and trailer to pull out of. He believes the fishermen are not from Peru but rather somewhere out of town.
