LaSalle County real estate owners owe more than $252 million in property taxes this year. The Treasurer’s Office mailed more than 66,000 bills last week. First installments are due July 7th. Second installments are due September 7th.
Bills can be paid at the Treasurer’s Office, in a drop box outside the courthouse on Etna Rd. in Ottawa, by mail, and at many area banks. The money will be paid to 159 taxing bodies including cities, townships, the county itself, and school districts.
Last year’s bills totaled about $243 million.
