LaSalle City Finance Director John Duncan says the only bid for fixing the city hall roof came in lower than expected. The city will pay Sterling Commercial Roofing a little more than $300,000 to fix areas where water is getting into the second and third floors of the building.

Duncan says the rest of the money for the estimated $1.2 million project will come from a grant the city received. The city received the first half. He says it would go toward tuck pointing and gutter replacement. Mayor Jeff Grove says the project should be completed by December.

City Finance Director John Duncan says the water has been getting into the brick. In some places, bricks can be pulled out of the foundation.
