What caused the fire that destroyed seven cabins at Grand Bear Resort on a windy Memorial Day isn’t known yet. Utica Fire Department Assistant Chief Drew Partain says 17 cabins remain and weren’t damaged. The fire call started with a report of a porch on fire. When the fire fighters got there, they knew they’d need a lot of help. Winds were blowing hard on the flames and spreading them. And there were no fire hydrants in the immediate area.

No people were hurt and all the people survived the fire.
