The Marseilles Elementary School District has raised pay for two important employee groups. Supt. Brenda Donahue says the pay for substitutes will go up from $105 a day to $110 per day. She says the district is trying to be more competitive.
Substitute paraprofessional teacher pay will also go up from thirteen to fourteen dollars an hour. Bus drivers also received a raise to $19.50 an hour and a route increase of $32.50. Donahue says it’s been hard for schools to hire bus drivers. She says with the new training requirements and federal laws, training new bus drivers has become a problem.
She says the increase will reward those who are staying with the district.
