Authorities believe boat in Seneca exploded from within

Authorities investigating the boat explosion in Seneca believe it happened inside the boat. The 40-foot boat had just been fueled at Spring Brook Marina. Conservation Police Sgt. Phil Wire says fueling was done, so there’s no reason to believe that had anything to do with the fire.

Seventeen people were on the boat. Thirteen of them were hurt, including one who was sent to Loyola Medical Center. A marina employee was also hurt. Most of the people hurt were treated and released at local hospitals.

A Facebook post from Spring Brook Marina says the company’s team is grateful for the emergency responders who gave medical care to the people who were on the boat, and their thoughts and prayers are with the boat owner and his family.
