Peru changes noise ordinance to allow petitioning for extra hour of music

The city of Peru has changed their noise ordinance. Businesses who want to have a band play past 10pm can petition the city council four times a year during the summer for an extra hour.

Alderman Bob Tieman says he’s in favor of the change. He says he thinks that this is necessary that someone should be able to file a petition and ask for permission.

And although bands can play until 11pm, the decibel level must stay at 55 decibels. Police Chief Bob Pyszka says loud music is still on after eleven pm, that business will be ticketed.
