Rochelle Township High School student Marlen Hueramo is the winner of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition. Her artwork was picked by Cong. Adam Kinzinger, who’s been participating in the Congressional Institutes’s Art Competition since his first term in office.
The piece is called “Lunch in the Commons”. It will be displayed at the US Capitol for one year. The runner up was Olivia Schickel of Pontiac High School with “More than a Wave.” Honorable mentions include Troy Papke of Rochelle Township High School with “Mizzle.” And Anna Gavin of Aurora Christian High School with “Memories at Great-Grandma’s.”
This is the last year Kinzinger will be hosting the event because he is leaving after this term.
