Illinois Valley PADS in Ottawa

PADS offers $100 for homeless shelter site before new construction

Illinois Valley PADS bid $100 to buy the Ottawa lot where it has a homeless shelter now. The city owns it and will demolish the building to make room for a bigger shelter. PADS was the only bidder.

Mayor Dan Aussem says the city attorney will review the deal, and he’s expecting PADS to have the lot in June.

PADS asked for a permit to build a new shelter on E. McKinley Rd. earlier this year, but neighborhood residents objected. So the City Council said no, but Aussem pledged to help PADS expand somewhere anyway.
