Before the Commercial and Broadway St. realignment project in Marseilles can start, an eight inch high pressure gas main has to be relocated. City Engineer Mike Etscheid says the project will take about two weeks because the pipes are made of steel, and can’t be drilled into. He also says deconstruction won’t start until the project is complete.
He says the gas main starts at Main Street and goes all the way down to businesses on the east side.He also says steel mats that will be placed under concrete will not be available until August. The entire project is supposed to be completed by October.
