A code red alert was sent out by the city of Oglesby Tuesday for safety reasons. Police Chief Doug Hayes says some of the four tornado sirens in the city might not be working.

He says with the weather that’s expected to be bad on Thursday, residents should watch TV and listen to the radio to hear what’s happening with the weather. He says when the city ran a test Tuesday, a tornado siren near Illinois Valley Community College worked fine.

But he says later, some residents were calling that one of the sirens was quieter than it should be. He says an outside company will try to come and fix the issues by Monday. He says many of the workers have COVID-19, so they can’t come right away.
