People have been talking about it for two or three years. This fall, they should actually have a roundabout to drive on as the U.S. 6 and Illinois 178 intersection north of Utica. The Illinois Department of Transportation says the $2.4 million construction job that starts today should be done by then.
Drivers should expect some slowdowns. But IDOT says all traffic lanes will stay open and the temporary traffic lights will stay on until the roundabout is open. Flaggers may be there from time to time to control traffic.
