LaSalle County Sheriff Adam Diss says a high tech body scanner would eliminate some liability at the county jail. The scanner could see a person’s body temperature to find out if he or she might be sick and whether he or she is hiding contraband. He says it can even see if someone has swallowed drugs to conceal them.
Diss is asking the county to approve $174,000 in COVID-relief money for it. And he’s asking for $318,000 for body cameras and video storage to cover 30 deputies.
