“No Parking Tow-Away” Zones will be enforced by Illinois State Police and the Illinois Department of Transportation at Matthiessen and Starved Rock State Park. ISP says with two million visitors a year, many have decided to park along IL 178 or IL 71.

But the problem is so pervasive; it has become a safety issue to pedestrians and motorists. It’s also tough for emergency service vehicles to get into the parks if they are needed. ISP says will be dedicated to patrol duties on the highways and will have tow trucks on site. A ticket can cost about $164 and the towing fee will cost $300.
