There’ll be new sidewalks near five area schools paid for with a state grant. The Safe Routes to School grants were awarded to Ladd, Spring Valley, Oglesby, Streator, and Peru. They total almost $1.1 million.
The work will be done at John F. Kennedy School in Spring Valley, Kimes School in Streator, Parkside Middle School in Peru, and Lincoln School in Oglesby. Ladd School will also get two new flashing yellow lights at a crossing. Kennedy School in Spring Valley will also get new bicycle racks.
