Oglesby Police Chief Doug Hayse hopes to be able to present awards to police officers who do great work more regularly. A committee looked back ten years in some cases to find officers who did heroic things but hadn’t been honored for them. Some saved lives, at least one helped people out of a troubling situation, and some had perfect attendance. Hayse says they deserve recognition, because it’s hard to be a police officer these days with so much criticism of law enforcement.
