New union contracts were approved by the LaSalle City Council at Monday’s meeting. Finance Director John Duncan says the city negotiated with firefighters, paramedics, trade workers, and police officers. He says this was the last meeting before May 1st so the contracts could be approved and the pay period would take effect. He says the contracts are good for four years.

Officers schedules will change so they are working four- seven hour days and one eight hour day. That means they will be working less hours per year. But in exchange, officers will lose some vacation time.
