The city of Peru’s corporate council and police committee are going to discuss if the city should raise the decibel limit and extend curfew for live music on the weekends. The request would extend the curfew time from 10pm to 11pm and raise the decibel levels from 65 to 85.
Riverfront Bar and Grill made the request because they are having live bands play throughout the summer. But Deputy Chief Sarah Raymond says if it happens, it could cause a challenge for the police department. She says it’s a commercial area but the bluff above it is where residents have complained about the noise.
Audio PlayerAlderman Tom Payton says there could be an investment in a temporary sound barrier like a bar in LaSalle has that makes sure the sound only goes one direction. He says it could be similar to what Nick’s on Six in LaSalle does, but it would be a little different.
Audio PlayerAlderman Mike Sapienza says it would be a win win for both the council and the business. The owners of Riverfront Bar and Grill were not at Monday’s meeting.
