There’s usually one 911 telecommunicator of the year in Ottawa. This year, the anonymous votes by the department’s staff produced two.
Stacey Fuentes has had the job for nine years. City Commissioner James Less says Fuentes always goes the extra mile and takes on new tasks. She credits police officer Brian Sember, who died of an illness over the weekend, for keeping all the telecommunicators on their toes.
Audio PlayerLess says the other telecommunicator of the year, Chandler Koepke, trains new hires with compassion and patience. She agrees the job is one of the most stressful for one where a person can stay seated all day. She told WCMY, she works on a great team.
Audio PlayerLess says the comments about Fuentes and Koepke came from the coworkers who voted for them.
