Ottawa Mayor Dan Aussem says it’s going to cost $300,000 to complete I&M Canal project. He was one of four mayors who spoke at the Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce’s State of Cities luncheon at the Grand Bear Lodge Thursday.
Aussem says the city has put in about $1.3 million into the project so far. The city re-watered the canal in June last year but had to drain it in July because of poor filtration. He says he thinks the project can be completed this year.
