Don’t believe anyone who knocks on your door and claims to need to set up a generator on your property while the power company works on power lines. Call police instead. The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department says it has received reports lately of two people trying to do such a ruse. In the ruse, one person distracts the home owner while the other gets into the house and steals things. The men doing it don’t have identification and leave when asked for it.
