Local unemployment rates dropped in February. They had gone up from December to January. The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the rate was 6.1% in LaSalle County in February. It was 5.4% in Bureau County and 5.9% in Putnam County. Combining the three counties, the rate was 5.9%. It means one in 17 people in the area who wanted jobs didn’t have them.
