The 2022 Poco a Poco music training program is returning to in person instruction. Executive Director Kate Tombaugh says musicians in eighth through twelfth grade will meet at the Park Presbyterian Church in Streator on Saturday, June 18th and then continue from June 20th to the 25th to receive private voice lessons. She says students will receive 35 hours of one on one training.
She says students will also have electives they can take like African percussion and Chinese meditation practices. Students will participate in master classes, round table discussions, and concerts that are free to the public.
She also says over the past six years, 68 young artists representing 27 schools and home school units have been trained in the program. She also says 56% of students decide to return.
Applications are due by Saturday, April 30th. Tuition costs $295, which covers the entire week.
