The Peru Police Department has a new officer on the force. Mayor Ken Kolowski swore in Officer Alec Lindemann at Monday’s meeting.
Police Chief Robert Pyszka says Lindemann has been working for the Galesburg Police Department since 2020. But his roots run local. He says he was born and raised in Peru and went to college at IVCC.
He also says while Lindemann interned with the Peru Police Department, he’s been working as a police officer in Galesburg since October of 2020. And while he’s been working, he’s received two Blue Max Awards. He says it’s an internal award for outstanding work.
One award was for taking down an armed suspect. The other was for taking a suspect into custody that wanted to harm those around him.
Lindemann’s first official day on the job will be April 4th.
