Gerald “Jerry” Berggren, 77, of Earlville, passed away March 29, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with Rev. Duane Kaufman, officiating. Burial will follow the services at Freedom Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Jerry was born May 21, 1944 in Sandwich to Russell and Mae (Jacobson) Berggren. He worked as a farm machinery mechanic for over 50 years. Jerry was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. He married Patsy Battles on July 23, 1966 at Serena United Methodist Church. Jerry enjoyed working in his shop, camping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was survived by his son, Scott (Amy) Berggren of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Tyler (Becca) Berggren, Tara (Wes) Love, and Trace Berggren; three brothers, Truman Berggren of Serena, Gary (Deborah) Berggren of Streator, and Robert (Sue) Berggren of Serena; three sisters, Kathleen Berggren of Ottawa, Colleen Berggren of Serena, and Pauline Berggren of Serena; and two sisters-in-law, BJ Berggren, and Kathy Berggren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his siblings, James, Kenneth, Kate, and Terrance. Memorials may be directed to Serena Fire Department.
