Two candidates on the LaSalle County Board will not be on the ballot in the upcoming primary election. Republican Jerry Myers of Streator and Democrat Joseph Witczak of Peru had their petitions objected by two other candidates.
Attorney John Peacock, who represented Republican Matthew Slager, challenged Myers claiming signatures were from voters outside of his district. Republican Martin Rue Jr. challenged Witczak claiming that one signature wasn’t by a registers voter.
The LaSalle County Election Board sustained both. The candidates can decide whether they could run as a write-in candidate.
Rue Jr’s objection to Republican Rick O’Sadnick was overruled as well as Kevin Steder’s objection to Republican Stephanie Simpko, who’s running in the Rutland 3 precinct.
