Over the weekend in High School Sports

In girls soccer, Streator scored a victory at home over LP 4-1. For the Lady Bulldogs, Anna Jaworski, Megan McMenamin, Lydia Huey and Bridget McGurk eached scored in the victory.

The LP tennis team competed at the Boylan Indoor Invitational in Rockford. The team of Joe Pohar and Andrew Bollis were winners in doubles.

Serena baseball and softball competed in Jacksonville over the weekend. 

The Huskers split two games with a win over Plaza Heights Christian 21-1, Dylan Cartwright pitched 5 innings with 4 strikeouts in the win. In game two Serena fell to DePaul Prep 12-2 Carson Baker took the loss with 1 inning pitched and giving up 4 earned runs.

The Lady Huskers had a trio of losses, Serena lost to Naperville North 11-5, suffered a loss to Morris 6-2 and came up short to West Central 15-12. Highlights for the Lady Huskers, Maddie Glade pitched 2 complete games with a total of 10 strikeouts,  Jenna Setchell and Lanee Cole each homered over the weekend.

 

Varsity Baseball scheduled for today, Marquette will host Prairie Central and Streator is at Lisle.

Games in softball scheduled for today: Ottawa is at Oswego, Marquette travels to Princeton, LP will host Rock Island and Streator is at Lisle.

 

The Cubs and White Sox bats were hot as both teams won in Cactus League action.  The Cubs outscored the Royals 13-12 in Mesa and the White Sox had a 9-0 win over the Dodgers in Glendale.  Today, the White Sox host the Padres and the Cubs play the Reds in Goodyear, Arizona.

 

The Cardinals lost to the Mets 7-3 in the Grapefruit League in Florida. St. Louis plays the Houston Astros today in Sarasota.

 

The Chicago Bulls play the Knicks in Madison Square Garden tonight.  The Bulls enter tonight’s matchup at 43-and-31 after splitting their last four games. 

 

The Blackhawks are back on home ice tonight after a three-game road trip and will host the Buffalo Sabres tonight.
