High school games scheduled for today. In baseball, Ottawa is at Plainfield South, Streator and LP will compete in the Cavalier Invitational. For softball, Marquette is home to face Prairie Central, Streator will host Woodland and LP is at Rock Falls.

 

Results last night in the Sweet Sixteen round of the Men’s NCAA Tournament. Arkansas Knocked off top seed Gonzaga 74-68, Michigan lost to Villanova 63-55, Duke defeated Texas Tech 78-73 and Houston earned an upset over #1 seed Arizona 72-60.

Tonight’s Matchups St Peter’s versus Purdue, Providence faces top seed Kansas, North Carolina versus UCLA and Iowa State will take on Miami.  The round for the Elite Eight will begin tomorrow.

The Sweet Sixteen round in the NCAA Women’s Tournament begins tonight with North Carolina versus South Carolina, Ohio State takes on Texas, Maryland will face Stanford and Iowa State versus Creighton.

 

The Chicago Bulls lost to the Pelicans 126-109 in New Orleans.  Zach LaVine led the way with 39 points and Coby White scored 23 off the bench.  The Bulls drop to 42-and-31.  Chicago and will play the Cavaliers in Cleveland tomorrow night.

 

The Cubs and White Sox both lost in Cactus League action.  The Cubs lost to the Angels 5-4 in Tempe and The White Sox lost to the San Francisco Giants 9-6 in Phoenix.  Today, the Cubs host the Rockies in Mesa and the White Sox play the Mariners in Peoria Arizona.

The Cardinals are back in action in the Grapefruit League.  St. Louis plays the Nationals today in Sarasota, Florida.  The Cards are 4-and-1 in Spring Training play.

 

Alex DeBrincat scored the lone goal of the shootout as the Blackhawks defeated the Kings 4-3 in Los Angeles.  DeBrincat also tallied a goal in regulation, which was his 36th of the season.  Patrick Kane and Sam Lafferty added goals for the Hawks who improved to 24-32-and-9 and will play the Golden Knights in Vegas tomorrow. 

 

The NASCAR’s Cup Series is set to visit the Circuit of the Americas this weekend in Austin Texas.

 

A set of golf clubs Tiger Woods used are going up for auction.  The legendary golfer used the clubs in 2001 when he became the first person to hold all four major titles at one time.  Gold Age Auctions believe the set could go for over a million dollars.  However, there are some concerns about the legitimacy of the set. Tiger Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, said Woods has the authentic clubs in his home and it would be unlike him to give something so important to his career away. Golden Age founder Ryan Carey said he stands by his belief that the clubs are real.
