The city of LaSalle voted to amend the cities noise ordinance. City Attorney James McPhedran says the language in the ordinance should make be clearer about exemptions for outdoor events with a lot of noise.
But the amendment did have some push back from Alderman “Diz” Demes, who says noise from live music is still too loud where he lives. He says when music playing where he lives, it’s hard to hear anything.
Demes and Alderman Jerry Reynolds voted no to amending the ordinance while the rest of the city council members voted yes. After the ordinance was amended, the city council voted to allow the special event permits for the Hegeler Carus Mansion and The Gateway to LaSalle.
Both events will have music being played outside. Demes and Reynolds also voted against the special event permit for the Gateway to LaSalle outdoor music events but voted yes for the Hegeler Carus Mansion summer concert series.
Alderman Tom Ptak was not at Monday’s meeting.
