The Ottawa Lady Pirates won the season opener at home over Kankakee 6-2. Pitcher McKenzie  Oslanzi earned the win with 13 strikeouts in 5 innings for the Lady Pirates.

 

The Marquette Lady Crusaders lost at home to Streator 9-3. Lady Bulldog’s Jaelyn Blakemore pitched six-plus innings striking out seven, walking three and allowing just three runs.

A highlight for the Lady Crusaders was Emma Rinearson who beat out a bunt single, stole second and third, and scored on a wild pitch.

 

Newark was shutout by Princeton 5-0. For the Lady Norsemen, pitcher Kodi Rizzo gave up five runs on seven hits, but only allowed one run over two innings in the loss. 

Seneca won big at home over GSW 17-2 in 4 innings.

 

Today in varsity softball, the Marquette Lady Crusaders will look to get a road win today against Genoa before they compete at the Jacksonville Invitational this weekend. Also this weekend, the LP Lady Cavaliers will host Morton in a double header.

 

In varsity baseball, The Marquette Crusaders were winners at Masinelli Field 13-0. The Cru improved to 2-0 on the season.

 

Seneca also won at home over GSW 5-1. For the Fighting Irish pitchers Austin Aldrige  threw 4 innings, 5 strikeouts and 1 earned run and reliever Paxton Giertz finished with 3 innings pitched and 4 strikeouts.

 

Earlville dominated on the road at AFC 16-0 in 4 innings.

 

Today in high school baseball, Marquette travels to Macomb before heading to the Jacksonville Invitational over the weekend. LP competes this weekend at the Metro East Kickoff starting with Columbia today.
