The owner of the Streator Eagle Six would want the city to forgive about $48,000 the theater owes in a loan from the city. City Manager David Plyman says the city lent owner Eric Gubelman a $150,000 loan in 2016 to redevelop the theater.

Plyman says he is caught up on all his payments, but he sent an email asking the city to accept a final payment of $65,000.
He still owes the city a little less than $114,000.

Plyman says he somewhat reluctant to offer incentives unless they are absolutely necessary to help a business. He says recommends the city should reject the offer. But he also says the city could pursue some level of forgiveness

Mayor Tara Bedei says she would be willing to renegotiate with the theater.

Plyman also says the city is helping the theater in TIF expenses.
