A $4.2 million HVAC job at Ottawa High School will take two summers. Part one is this year with the system in the kitchen and cafeteria being replaced, because the one that’s there now is failing. Part two next summer will install air conditioning in the main building. Supt. Mike Cushing says the work’s being spread over so long a time because so many things are on backorder. But some of the work needed to put an air cooler in place can be done this year.

A consequence of the work is an early start to classes in the 2022-2023 school year. The first day will be August 8th. That will give the summer of 2023 an early start so there’s enough time for part two of the project before the 2023-2024 school year starts.
