An annual entry level beekeeping class will be held next month in Ottawa. Illinois Valley Beekeepers Association president Robin Smith says it’s easy to buy the equipment, but it’s a commitment to be a beekeeper. You can’t just set up a hive, put in some bees, and let it go. The starter colony needs a good location and help growing.
The class at the University of Illinois Extension Office on N. 31st Rd. will be from nine to three Saturday, March 12th. It’s $15 for adults and $5 for 4Hers.
