William E. Parrott, 82, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Thursday, February 24 at St. Columba Church, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am to noon, prior to services, at the church. The family asks that all those attending the service to please wear a mask or face covering. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery at 2 pm on Friday, February 25. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

Bill was born March 11, 1939, in Ottawa to William O. and Mildred (Elzer) Parrott. He married Josephine Donahue on September 17, 1960 at St. Columba Church, and together they have spent 61 wonderful years of marriage.

Bill graduated from Ottawa High School in 1957. He worked as a foreman for Union Carbide for 21 years before retiring from GE Plastics in 2000, after 22 years. Bill was an avid hunter in his youth. As he got older he truly loved taking care of his family; he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sports and activities and was an avid Marquette Academy sports fan. He was a member of St. Columba Church, Knights of Columbus, and Marquette Go Club.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jo and their six children, Bill (April) Parrott of Ottawa, Brenda Dougherty of Ottawa, Dave (Sheila) Parrott of Ottawa, Dale (Kerry Jolly) of Streator, Rob (Alyssa) Parrott of Gurnee, and Dianne (Jeff) Bangert of Ottawa; 16 grandchildren, BJ (Kyra), Bryan, Luke, Kassi (Ryan), Lainey (Zach), Shannon (Eric), Eric (Marivick), Mike, Bry, Nicholas, Abby, Megan, Lilly, Taylor, Lauren, and Morgan; four great-grandchildren, Addison, Everly, Olivia, and Hunter; his sister, Joanne Kiper; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Nicholas Dale Parrott.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Columba Building Restoration Fund or to Marquette Academy for Bill and Jo Parrott’s Blue & Gold Scholarship Fund.
