Erin L. (Cook) Butzen, 64 of rural Grand Ridge passed away Sunday morning (February 20, 2022) peacefully at her home after a battle of cancer.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday from 1 – 4pm at the Grand Ridge Funeral Home. Services will be held at 4pm at the funeral home.
Erin was born on September 11, 1957, in Bath, New York. She married Bernard “Ben” Butzen on June 8, 1996. He survives.
Also surviving are, step-daughter, Heidi (Erik Hoffman) LeGare of Ottawa, step-son, Todd (Bonnie Ferrarini) Butzen of Streator, granddaughter Bailey LeGare, brothers, Chris (Barb) Cook of Watkins Glen, NY, Fritz Cook of Manchester, NH, Karl Cook of bath, NY, Hans (Mary) Cook of Streator, Kurt (Melissa) Cook Sr of Streator, Pete (Skeeter) Moxley of Streator, sisters, Bambi (Bob) Emm of Kernan, Shawn Anderson of Havelock, NC and Heidi Cook of Lincoln, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Christine Bateman of Decatur, Rose Hajny of Washington, IL, Cecilia (Randy) Cleveland of Stuart, FL, Nesa (Richard) Rieuf of Marseilles and best friend Sandy (Jim) Olvera of Streator.
She is preceded in death by her mother and stepfather Norma and Pete Moxley, a daughter Jennifer in infancy, brother, Gari Cook, nieces Kayla Cook and Allissa Martin, great-niece Isabella Cook, brother-in-law James Butzen and her beloved pet “Girlfriend” and several cats.
Erin attended grade school in Bath, New York and attended Streator High School. She enjoyed pottery, collecting antiques, making jewelry, painting and mainly helping troubled youth.
Erin was a faithful, loving and giving wife, daughter, stepmother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Domestic Violence Programs, Drug/Alcohol Program or Children’s House Program or a charity of the donors choice.
