It’s been 50 years since Dr. Joseph Hohner of Ottawa died. For five decades, his legacy has been a scholarship in his name. It’s available through the LaSalle, Marshall, and Putnam counties’ Regional Office of Education. The Ottawa and Marquette high school guidance offices also have applications. They’re due April 18th for this fall, with awards to range from $100 to $2,000. Most of the 2,200 students who’ve gotten them were college students, but the money can be used for any level of education from elementary to doctorate school. Those who got some of the money are asked to consider giving to the trust fund that keeps it going.
