Mediacom is one of 14 internet providers sharing in $47 million in state grant money to expand broadband access. The company is getting almost $46,000 for a project in LaSalle County. It’s also getting $52,000 for a project in the Rock Island area and $117,000 for another in the Champaign area. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity is providing the grants through the Connect Illinois program. It aims to expand broadband to 13,000 more homes, businesses, farms, and other operations across the state.
