The city of Peru is seeking bids to upgrade the tennis and pickle ball courts in Washington Park. Parks and Recreation Director Adam Thorson says the courts are cracking and the settlement isn’t the best to play on.
He says the courts are used by residents and local schools. He says the city hosts a six week tennis camp and twenty or thirty pickle ball players that like using the courts.
After the upgrades, Thorson says the park should have four pickle ball courts and three tennis courts and all with new equipment. Mayor Ken Kolowski says he would like the courts to get done this summer but the bids might be expensive because of inflation and supply chain issues.
