Ottawa Elementary School Supt. Cleve Threadgill says the school district will no longer mandate wearing masks in school starting today. Threadgill says it results from the vote from the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, which struck down the governor’s request to renew the emergency COVID Mitigation rules for schools.
He says the wearing of masks is still strongly recommended for all individuals while in the school building. He also says everyone should be respectful of an individual’s right to wear or not wear a mask. He also apologized for the confusion and the late notice regarding the change in practice.
