Nine parents spoke Tuesday at the Ottawa Elementary School Board Meeting saying the district needs to end the mask mandate. These are some of the comments that were made at Tuesday’s meeting.

These are some of the parents who spoke against the mask mandate at the Ottawa Elementary School Meeting Tuesday.

Parents said that the ruling from the Sangamon County Judge is clear, and also mentioned the vote from the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules that blocks the emergency rules. Supt. Cleve Threadgill says the district is still waiting on the judge’s ruling and says right now, the district is taking this day by day.

He says that that legislative action needs to be taken on the issue of masks because parents are showing up making their statements.

The board didn’t approve anything because a resolution on masks wasn’t on the agenda.
