 It was another busy weekend in High School Sports.

 Ottawa were winners on the road against their rival LP 68-54. Braiden Miller led the Pirates with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, Luke Cushing scored 14 points and Levi Sheehan added 12 in the victory. For the Cavaliers, Johnny Riva had 21 points.

The JV team also beat LP 45-42 with Houston Hart scoring 20 points for Ottawa.

 

At Bader Gym, Marquette earned a home victory over Woodland 56-37. Carson Zellers led the Crusaders with 10 points.

 

Streator won at home over Reed-Custer 62-55. The Bulldogs Jack Starkey finished with 24 points, Chrsitian Benning added 18 to the score and Jack Haynes earned a double-double with 14 points and 17 rebounds.

 

Seneca were winners at Dwight 62-39. For the Fighting Irish, Noah Quigley finished with 17 points.

Also tonight in varsity basketball, the Marquette Crusaders will travel to face the Sandwich Indians.

 

Post season results in girls basketball

In the opening  round at the Seneca Class 2A Regional, the hosting Lady Irish defeated Pontiac 47-43. Kennedy Hartwig scored 20 points for Seneca.

 

At the Somonauk Class 2A Regional, Sandwich beat Somonauk 47-40.

 

Girls regional action for tonight,  At the Midland Class 1A Regional, Serena will face their host Midland and then Marquette will take on Henry.

 

In the Dwight Class 1A Regional, Newark versus Dwight and St Bede will face Earlville

 

At the Seneca Class 2A Regional, the hosting Lady Irish will face Beecher

 

In the Geneseo Class 3A Regional, Streator will face their host Geneseo and then the Ottawa Lady Pirates will take on Rock Island.

 

In high school wrestling

At the Class 2A Sycamore Sectional, Ottawa’s Charles Medrow took fourth in the 182 pound class and was the only Pirate to advance to the IHSA state tournament. Connor Lorden from LP will also compete at the State level at the 195 pound class for the Cavaliers. 

 

At the Class 1A Coal City Sectional, Owen Feiner and Kyler Hahn for the Seneca Fighting Irish qualified to compete at the IHSA State Tournament.

Also in wrestling at the Naperville Central Sectional for the inaugural IHSA Girls Wrestling State series. The Lady Pirates Sara Meyer won the sectional championship in the 140 division and will move on to the state tournament in Bloomington.
