St. Sen. Rezin wants to expand LIHEAP to more people for one year

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program grants could be made available to more people under a bill State Senator Sue Rezin has filed. The Morris Republican says natural gas bills are very high this winter. Her bill would take some of the state’s surplus money and expand LIHEAP to people who may not think of themselves as low income.

Rezin says people in the temporarily expanded eligibility range would apply for LIHEAP the same way as everyone else. The Illinois Senate Republicans’ press office says the bill would provide $500 million in help.
